Women’s Resource Center is a private, non-profit agency that provides temporary shelter, counseling, advocacy and supportive services for victims, survivors, and witnesses of domestic violence and sexual violence.  Women’s Resource Center operates a 36-bed shelter (largest in the state) that has been housing victims of domestic and sexual violence since 1983.  Women’s Resource Center offers temporary shelter, individual therapeutic counseling, parenting education, legal, personal and systems advocacy, individual case management, service planning and safety planning, programs to assist child witness/survivors of family violence, 24 hour hotline with information, crisis counseling and referral and support groups for domestic violence and for sexual assault survivors.  Services are provided at the shelter and in outreach offices located in Raleigh, Fayette, Summers, and Nicholas counties.

A dual program, Women’s Resource Center is one of fourteen (14) licensed domestic violence programs of the West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence and one of nine (9) rape crisis centers of the West Virginia Foundation for Rape Information and Services; West Virginia’s sexual assault coalition.  Women’s Resource Center is also one of eight (8) licensed Visitation and Exchange Centers in West Virginia.  Our Visitation and Exchange program assists non-custodial parents in having access to their children in a safe monitored environment.
